Brain Overload & Better Late Than Never Memorial Day Pics!

June 2, 2010

Hey my lovelies! I feel so weird since I haven’t really posted anything in 2 days! My brain is kinda mush right now between thinking of ideas for my new and improved blog and the craziness that I have had to deal with at work and having a sick Peanut. Poor Peanut woke up in the middle of the night Monday puking and on fire! I think that she had a little too much fun in the sun and not enough hydration on Monday! So I stayed up with her all night and then slept a few hours and then went to work for a half day.

I was pretty much worthless at work, yesterday, but I had a conference call with a client and I couldn’t reschedule it. Thank God I didn’t have to talk at all during the call. Every once in a while someone would ask if I was still there and I would take the phone off mute and say “yeppers!” and then go back to daydreaming! Sometimes it really does suck having to be a working mom, but at this time, this is what needs to be done. I felt so bad having to make Peanut leave the house and making my mom take care of her. I would rather be home with her! Luckily Dave got off work early enough so that my mom only had to stay for a short time.

Then we got a call that my grandmother (my mom’s mom) was admitted to the hospital because she has an enlarged heart. She had stopped by the other day to let us know that she had just been diagnosed with an enlarged heart, but the doctor told her that she needed to listen to what he tells her to do and just take it easy. he actually used the words, “I am trying to save your life.” Not the words that you really want to hear from your doctor, but I am glad that he used them, because grandma can be stubborn!

So she went back to her doctor for a checkup yesterday and they did not like what they saw so they sent her to the hospital. Right now she is resting comfortably and on oxygen. Hopefully they can find some meds to giver her to help out her heart. She has always had heart issues, but she has bounced back even stronger. Keep her in your prayers right now!

And in honor of Memorial Day, I want to share some photos that my mom took from the Memorial Day ceremony at my grandfather’s legion post. Look how handsome my grandpa is! He is a very proud Marine! And yes, he is still a bad ass!

This was quote an honor for my grandma to place the memorial wreath at the memorial site and to be the one to throw the other memorial wreath in the river. It may have been to much for her though. Hopefully she gets out of the hospital and is on the mend quickly…

I also wanted to thank everyone who has served in the military, everyone that is fighting for us right now, and everyone who will fight for us. I am proud to be an American, no matter what!

My First Giveaway!

May 27, 2010

Ok all, so this is my first giveaway….and probably my last. I was surprised to actually have a chance to finally have a giveaway. Here we go…

The lovely people at MyBlogSpark have given me the opportunity to offer 2 of you a $35 gas card from Jiffy Lube! This should cover most, if not all, of the cost of an oil change. There was only supposed to be 1 winner, but they sent me a gift card and then I realized that I do not have a Jiffy Lube any where close to me at all! I felt like such an idiot! But, you all lucked out so now there will be 2 winners! Oil Changes are something that need to be done on a regular basis so everyone could use a gift card to get one done!

April is both National Car Care and National Informed Women Month and a perfect opportunity to get empowered to care for your car! (Ok, so I am behind on this one!) Did you know that in the United States the average age of cars and light trucks on the roads today has reached a record high of 9.4 years? That means it’s more important than ever to take proper care of your vehicle.

With the informative Web site www.MotorOilMatters.org (created by the maker of industry-leading brands Pennzoil and Quaker State) you can easily locate key information about how quality motor oils can help prolong your engine’s life and improve overall efficiency, as well as help answer other questions you may have about motor oil. In addition, the site offers a fun, educational game for you to play called “M.O.M. Knows Best” where you can put your motor mind to the test with an interactive quiz.

Did you know?

  • According to a recent survey from the Automotive Service Association, more than 54 percent of customers who take their vehicles for service and repair are women
  • Using a high-quality motor oil in the right grade can help maximize fuel economy
  • Low-quality oils that do not meet industry standards or the vehicle manufacturer’s requirements could cost consumers in the long run by potentially damaging the vehicle’s engine or possibly voiding the manufacturer’s warranty
  • Another reason to look to a high-quality motor oil – like Pennzoil and Quaker State – is that it is designed to meet the demands of today’s engines

So, go ahead and take a look around the Motor Oil Matters site and tell me what you found most interesting! To be fair, I will be using random.org to pick the winners! Oh and this isn’t just for the women out there!

Make sure to go to Jiffy Lube’s site and make sure that there is a Jiffy Lube near you! Don’t be an ass like me! While you’re there sign up to get a $5 coupon too!

Giveaway ends June 4th! So hurry!

Shits & Giggles

May 26, 2010

Let’s just say that this post could be deemed as TMI, but I am going to share anyways. “If you can’t laugh at yourself, life’s gonna seem a whole lot longer than you like!’ Garden State.

So this past weekend we went to a wedding in Lima. Let’s just say that it is in the middle of nowhere, and about an hour and a half south of Toledo. So we left my house at about 2:30 for a 4:30 wedding. We (my parents and my brother and sister-in-law and the hubs) hopped into the minivan and my dad drove us all. Roadtrips with this family, no matter how short, are always an adventure!

Surprisingly enough, not much happened in the car on the way down, other than my brother poking me like the annoying little brother he is. And he is 27. Yeah he still picks on me like we are kids and I had the pleasure of him sitting behind me in the car. Lucky me!

Anyannoyance, we finally get to the park that the wedding is being held at and it looked like we were the first ones  there. Better to be early than late! So between me and my mom and my pregnant SIL we need to find a bathroom. So we looked over and noticed some sort of bathroom looking building at the top of a hill….so we drove over.

I looked up and saw this…

Potty

Scary Stairs

Those were some crazy looking stairs to hike my happy ass up in a pair of heels and a dress! Well, I did it anyways. And then I found this…

CIMG0094

Do you notice that there are no doors? Or any resemblance of this place ever being cleaned? There was no way that I was going to attempt to go to the bathroom there, but my stomach had other plans. So, I took a roll of toilet paper and pretty much wrapped the entire seat with it. I also put my giant purse around my neck, since there was no way I was going to put it on the ground. Then I finally started to do my bizness and then I hear…”Everything coming out all right??” from down the hill. Yeppers, that was the SIL…and then about a minute later, I hear “INCOMING!!” Luckily I was done, but I still had my giant purse around my neck (don’t ask me why I didn’t give my purse to someone, I have no idea.) And then 2 girls walked in. They had to be about 12 or so. They got to see this…

They immediately turned around and ran out!  I probably would’ve done the same thing! Those poor girls were petrified of me for the entire wedding! They were the ones that were passing out the programs and the bubbles and they could barely even look at me. And they kept walking away from me. Although, I probably would’ve done the same thing if I were in their shoes!

The wedding was beautiful though. And of course the bride was beautiful. I have known her since she was a baby. Her mom and my mom have been best friends since high school. It really was cool. I loved the bubbles too! My wedding was all in the same place so we didn’t get to do anything fun like that. Well, we took full advantage of the bubbles after the wedding…

And then came the reception…and the jazz hands were a flowing! The hubs actually started it. He is all about the jazz hands revolution!

My dad wasn’t all about it at first…

He thinks he’s funny.

But then we caught him off guard later…
CIMG0159

So that was pretty much it, except for the fact that we had to leave early because baby bro and I both got the shits from the super rich food at the reception. It took a long time before we actually ate, so when we did eat we loaded our plates up….and devoured our food. Bad Idea!!

Oh yeah.. I cannot forget the beautiful masterpiece that Baby Bro made with the crystals that were on the table…
CIMG0161
And yes…it is definitely what it looks like. That is why my family is awesome!

Worldwide Mission Monkey Day Is Here!

May 21, 2010

Hello blog-world!  I am participating in what’s known around the world as Mission Monkey Day! What is Mission Monkey you ask?  Well, there’s this blogger friend of ours known as Pixie Momma, aka Michelle.  Michelle has a little girl, or Monkey as she’s known by who was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma.  To learn more about it, click here. Monkey is a sweet little 16 month old girl.  She doesn’t deserve this.  Nobody deserves this.

But the good news is that Monkey only has Stage 1 (low risk).  The bad news is the medical bills are mounting and the Physical Therapy (starts today) isn’t covered by insurance.  Michelle is using the donated money to offset medical bills.  She will donate any unused portion to another family dealing with the same issue.

This is why the blogging universe is banning together like never before to rally around Michelle and Monkey to provide support.  In addition to further entice you to lend your hand, and donate to the cause, we have over 50 items that have been donated.  Many bloggers are hosting these fabulous giveaways and all you need to win one of these items is just one raffle ticket.

**And while we are on the subject of love and prayers, please head over to BATCRAP CRAZY and lend your kind words and prayers to Daffy. I do not know her that well, but I have followed her blog for a while and she has just lost her sister. I can’t even imagine what she is going through right now, but we all need to show her how much we love and support her.**
